The Retreat

The Being Still Retreat strives to create a calm environment in God’s beautiful creation while observing our life in Christ. It is designed for Pastors/Ministers and wife in full-time vocational ministry. Colleen and David want to give them the opportunity of being still and knowing God.

SOME DETAILS

Where is the lodge? The lodge is located between La Veta and Cuchara, Colorado and sits on 400+ acres that border the San Isabel National Forest at an elevation over 8600 feet. We will send you turn- by-turn directions from La Veta, Colorado to the lodge prior to your arrival. GPS will NOT get you to the lodge.

Tell us about the rooms. Each room features a queen bed with all linens and a private bathroom with towels and wash cloths.

What do we bring? Toiletries, comfortable clothing, hiking boots, walking shoes, swim suit for the hot tub, water bottle for hiking, all medications, a book to read, and any specialty items you may need. The closest Walmart isn’t close!!

What do we wear? Casual clothing that allows you to dress in layers, indoor shoes, comfortable outdoor shoes, and hiking boots.

What will we eat? Great meals will be cooked by Colleen and assisted by David. Most days will include a full breakfast and dinner. Items will be provided for you to make your own lunch.

What’s the schedule? Check-in is after 3pm on Monday. Check-out is Friday by 10am. All the other time is very loosely structured for you to enjoy and be still. We will provide 11 meals.

What about kids and pets? We love them! But, for this week, please make other accommodations for them.

Will our technology work? Cell service is spotty but Wifi is good. We will give you a direct number in case someone needs to contact you in an emergency.

What’s the cost? Your cost is getting to the lodge and any local adventures you choose to take. There are a few travel scholarships available.

Additional information. * HYDRATE at least days before coming to help prevent altitude sickness. Do not reveal to other guests anything about your church/ministry. We will explain more later.

David was born in Pennsylvania and moved to Texas at age 12. He accepted Christ at age 17 and surrendered to ministry in 1982. He entered full-time vocational ministry in 1983. He has served in areas of youth, music, preschool, children, recreation, missions, education, administration, and executive pastor. David has 2 grown married children.
